Itinerary

Days 1-3 | Florence, San Gimignano & Chianti: art, hills and Tuscan flavours

The journey begins in Florence, among Renaissance squares and historic streets, with a guided walk followed by a welcome dinner at a traditional osteria. We then travel to San Gimignano to explore its medieval towers and artisan shops, before reaching the Chianti hills to visit a small family-run farm and taste sheep’s cheese, local wine and extra virgin olive oil.

Accommodation: Art Atelier Hotel (Firenze) or similar

Florence skyline with the Duomo, starting point of the Tuscany cultural journey

Days 4-5 | Garfagnana: traditions and unspoilt nature

Mountain landscape in Garfagnana near Campocatino, surrounded by nature

We enter the mountainous heart of the Garfagnana, where life still follows the rhythm of nature. Here we meet local butchers to discover Bazzone ham, a Slow Food Presidio, and walk along scenic trails through woods and pastures, with a lunch stop at a mountain refuge. Between quiet villages and shared meals, we experience a more intimate, lesser-known Tuscany.

Accommodation: Il Ciocco (Barga) or similar

Days 6-7 | Lunigiana & Versilia: ancient breads and hidden landscapes

We continue to the Lunigiana, a borderland rich in deep-rooted traditions. This is where we discover Tuscany’s oldest breads – Marocca di Casola, testaroli and panigacci – through stories, traditional techniques and a hands-on cooking class with lunch. We then explore the Corchia Cave, one of Europe’s most impressive karst cave systems, before heading to Pietrasanta.

Accommodation: Podere Conti (Pontremoli) or similar

Traditional testaroli bread cooking on cast-iron plates over open fire

Days 8-9 | Lucca: elegance and slow pace

Panoramic view over Lucca’s historic centre and Renaissance walls

The journey concludes in Lucca, a refined and compact city. A guided visit takes us along its Renaissance walls, churches and elegant streets, revealing the city’s timeless character. There is time to explore independently before gathering for a final dinner, celebrating the shared journey, the flavours discovered and the connections formed along the way.

Accommodation: The Tuscanian Hotel (Lucca) or similar

In June, Tuscany offers warm yet pleasant weather, perfect for exploring villages, rolling hills and historic cities. Average temperatures typically range between 18°C and 28°C (around 64°F-82°F), with plenty of sunshine and a low chance of rain. Evenings can be cooler, especially in hilly and mountainous areas such as the Garfagnana. We recommend bringing lightweight clothing and an extra layer for the evening.

To make the most of your journey, we recommend bringing comfortable and practical clothing. Here are some useful tips for packing:

  • Comfortable walking shoes, such as trekking or trainers, for exploring villages and hiking
  • Swimsuit, in case you get the chance to relax in a spa or enjoy a pool
  • Light jacket or waterproof layer, useful for wind or occasional rain
  • Sunscreen and a hat, for sunny days
  • Small backpack, ideal for hikes and daily excursions
  • Layered clothing, to adapt to changing temperatures
  • Power bank, to keep your phone charged during excursions
  • Universal adapter (if needed, for international travellers)
  • Notebook or travel journal, to jot down experiences and encounters
  • Camera or smartphone, to capture your favourite moments
  • Personal medication
